Riyad as-Salihin - Sincerity and having an intention for all actions, words and states, outward and inward - Hadith

Chapter on Sincerity and having
an intention for all actions, words and states, outward and inward

Allah Almighty says, "They were only ordered to worship Allah,
making their deen sincerely His as people of pure natural belief,
and to establish the prayer and pay zakat that is the correct
deen,"
(98:5) and the Almighty says, "Their flesh and blood
does not reach Allah but your fear of Him does reach Him."
(W22:35;
H322:37) and the Almighty says, "Say, 'Whether you conceal what
is in your breasts or make it known, Allah knows it.'"
(3:29)

1. The Amir al-Mu'minin, Abu Hafs 'Umar ibn al-Khattab said, "I heard
the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say,
'Actions only go by intentions. Everyone gets what they intend. Anyone,
therefore, who emigrates to Allah and His Messenger, his emigration
is indeed to Allah and His Messenger. But anyone who emigrates to gain
something of this world or to marry a woman, his emigration is to that
to which he emigrated.'" [Agreed to be sound]

2. 'A'isha, Umm al-Mu'minin, Umm 'Abdullah said, "The Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'An army will
invade the Ka'ba. When they are at Bayda', the earth will swallow them
up from the first to the last of them.'" She said, "I said, 'Messenger
of Allah, how will it swallow them up from the first to the last of
them when their traders are among them as well as others who are not
really part of them?' He said, 'It will swallow them up from the first
to the last of them and then they will resurrected according to their
intentions.'" [Agreed upon. This is the version in al-Bukhari.]

3. 'A'isha, may Allah be pleased with her said, "The Prophet, may
Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'There is no more hijra after
the Conquest [of Makka], but there is jihad and intention. When you
are called to it then go." [Agreed upon]

4. Abu 'Abdullah Jabir ibn 'Abdullah al-Ansari said, "Once we were
with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on an expedition
and he said, 'There are certain men still in Madina who have accompanied
you on every stretch you have travelled and every valley you have crossed.
It was only illness that prevented them from coming.'"

One variant has, "from their sharing the reward with us." [Muslim]

Al-Bukhari related it from Anas who said, "We returned from the expedition
to Tabuk with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
and he said, 'Some people have stayed behind in Madina and we did not
travel through a ravine or a valley without their accompanying us. A
valid excuse prevented them from coming.'"

5. Abu Yazid Ma'n ibn Yazid ibn al-Akhnas and he, his father and
grandfather were Companions said, "My father, Yazid, had put aside
some dinars to give as sadaqa and placed them in the care of
a man in the mosque and then I came and took them and brought them to
him. He said, 'By Allah, I did not mean you!' I took the case to the
Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he
said, 'Yazid, for you what you intended, and for you, Ma'n, what you
took.'" [al-Bukhari]

6. Abu Ishaq Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas Malik ibn Uhayb ibn 'Abdu Manaf
ibn Zuhra ibn Kilab ibn Murra ibn Ka'b ibn Lu'ayy al-Qurashi az-Zuhri,
one of the ten testified who would have the Garden, may Allah be pleased
with them, said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant
him peace, visited me in the year of the Hajj of Farewell on account
of a serious illness I had. I said, 'Messenger of Allah, this illness
has affected me as you see and I have property but no heirs other than
my daughter. Shall I give two-thirds of my property away as sadaqa?'
He replied, 'No.' I asked, 'A half?' He replied, 'No.' He said, 'A third,
and a third is great (or a lot). It is better to leave rich heirs than
to leave them poor, begging from other people. There is nothing you
spend, desiring by it the face of Allah, but that you will be rewarded,
even for a morsel you put in your wife's mouth.' I said, 'Messenger
of Allah, will I be left behind [in Makka] after my companions leave?'
He said, 'You will not be left behind, for any virtuous actions you
do will raise you in degree and elevation. And then perhaps you might
be left behind so that some people will benefit from you and others
be harmed by you. O Allah, let My Companions complete their emigration
and do not let them turn back on their heels,' but poor Sa'd ibn Khawla
had the Messenger of Allah grieve over his death in Makka." [Agreed
upon] [Muslim]

7. Abu Hurayra 'Abdu'r-Rahman ibn Sakhr said that the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Allah does not
look at your bodies nor your forms but He looks at your hearts and your
actions."

8. Abu Musa 'Abdullah ibn Qays al-Ash'ari said, "The Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was asked about the
man who fights in anger, a man who fights to defend himself and a man
who fights to show off, and whether any of these were fighting in the
way of Allah The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him
peace, said, 'The one fights so that the word of Allah will be uppermost
is in the way of Allah.'" [Agreed upon]

9. Abu Bakra Nufay' ibn al-Harith ath-Thaqafi said, "The Prophet,
may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'When two Muslims clash
with their swords, then both the killer and killed are in the Fire.'
I asked, "Messenger of Allah, I can understand this with regard to the
killer, but what about the murdered man?' He replied, 'He also was eager
to kill his companion.'" [Agreed upon]

10. Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless
him and grant him peace, said, "The group prayer of a man is some twenty
degrees higher than his prayer in his business or his house. That is
because when one of you does wudu' thoroughly and then goes to
the mosque with no other object than that of doing the prayer, without
being impelled by anything other than the prayer, Allah will raise him
up a degree with every step he takes, and a wrong action will also fall
away from him, until he enters the mosque. When he enters the mosque,
he is in prayer the whole time he is waiting for it and the angels pray
for him all the time he is sitting there, saying, 'O Allah! Show mercy
to him! O Allah! Forgive him! O Allah! Turn towards him!' as long as
he has not caused anyone injury and has not broken wudu'." [Agreed
upon. This is the version in Muslim]

11. Abu'l-'Abbas 'Abdullah ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas ibn 'Abdu'l-Muttalib
said that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him
peace, said in what he reported from his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic,
"Allah wrote good actions and bad actions and then made that clear.
Whoever intends to do a good action and then does not do it, Allah,
the Blessed and Exalted, will write a full good action for him. If he
intends to do it and then does it, Allah will write ten to seven hundred
good actions multiplied many times over. If he intends an evil action
and then does not do it, Allah will write a full good action for him.
If he intends it and then does it, Allah will write one bad action for
him." [Agreed upon]

12. Abu 'Abdu'r-Rahman 'Umar ibn al-Khattab said, "I heard the Messenger
of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, "Three men of
the past were travelling and took refuge for the night in a cave. They
entered it and a rock fell down the mountain and blocked the entrance.
They said, 'The only thing that will rescue us from this rock is to
call on Allah invoking good actions we have done!' One of them said,
"O Allah, my parents are both old and it is my habit never to give milk
in the evening either to my family or friends before giving it to them
first. One day I went a long way in search of something and did not
reach them until they had already gone to bed. I milked their evening
drink but found them asleep. I did not want to wake them nor to give
my family or friends their evening drink before they had had theirs,
so I remained with the cup in my hand waiting for them to wake up until
dawn came. The children were at my feet, crying because of hunger. Then
they woke up and drank their drink. O Allah, if I did that out of the
desire for Your Face, then rescue us from the situation we are in regarding
this rock." It opened up a little but they still could not get out.
The second said, "O Allah! A cousin of mine was the person I loved more
than any other. (Another variant has, "I used to love one of my uncle's
daughters with the most intense love it is possible for a man to have
for a woman.") I tried to seduce her and she refused me until, one year
when she was in dire need, she came to me and I gave her a hundred and
twenty dinars provided that she would let me do what I wanted with her.
She did that but when I was about to have my way with her, (One variant
has, "when I was between her legs.") she said, 'Fear Allah and do not
break the seal without having the right to do so.' Then I left her alone
in spite of the fact that she was, of all people, the one I loved the
most and also left her with the gold I had given her. O Allah, if I
did that out of the desire for Your Face, then rescue us from our situation!"
The rock moved a little further but they still could not get out. The
third said, "O Allah, I employed some workers and gave all of them their
wages except for one man who went off without taking what he was owed.
I invested his wage until it multiplied in value. After a time he came
to me and said, ''Abdullah, pay me my wage!' I said, 'All the camels,
cattle, sheep and slaves that you see here have come from your wage.'
He said, ''Abdullah, do not make fun of me?' I said, 'I am not making
fun of you.' He took them all and drove them off, not leaving anything.
O Allah, if I did that out of the desire for Your Face, then rescue
us from the situation we are in!" The rock moved away and they walked
out.'" [Agreed upon]

The Passion Of Muslims Towards Quran Teaching

Quran learning and Quran Teaching are the noblest of the deeds in an Islamic way of life, because the Holy Quran serves to be the nucleus around which the lives of true Muslims shall revolve all through  their very end. Quran should act as center of gravitational pull for all true Muslims of the world, with everyone trying to get as close as possible to the centre itself because God Himself declares Quran and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as His favors to all the humanity to taste life till The Judgment Day. Consider and learn Holy Quran the following verses from the :

Aal-e-Imran [3:164] Indeed Allâh conferred a great favour on the believers when He sent among them a Messenger (Muhammad PBUH) from among themselves, reciting unto them His Verses (the Qur’ân), and purifying them (from sins by their following him), and instructing them (in) the book (the Qur’ân) and Al¬Hikmah [the wisdom and the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH (i.e. his legal ways, statements, acts of worship)], while before that they had been in manifest error.

That is why the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also said:

“The best among you is the one who learn Quran and taught it to others”.

This is how significant Quran and Quran Teaching is to God Almighty and His beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and this is what makes Muslims all over the world so passionate about Quran Teaching.

The best thing about it is that not only Muslims all over the world inclined greatly towards Quran learning and Quran Teaching, but they make sure to arrange for the best possible Quran Teaching of their next generations, so that they can show their gratitude towards The One who is the real master of whole of the universe.

He did not know that working in a bank is haraam

He did not know that working in a bank is haraam
I did not know that working in a bank is haram. I have repented and left this position. What is the ruling on the wealth I gained from working in a bank? Is it haram?.

From Quran Blog

And important note that we want to discuss and share with you its is about reading Quran and Reciting Holy Quran to understand it, Ramadan is the month when the beautiful the Holy Quran has been revealed.  A miracle by the creator of the worlds, Allah (SWT)  Should we not glorify him by reading the gift he has sent down for us and learn Arabic Quran by heart  to feel the power of it and learn is with translation to understand it and let our heart fill will tears of glory and wash away our sins  “Will they not meditate on the Quran, or are there locks on the hearts”, read Holy Quran, Surah Muhammad, Verse 24.

End from holy Quran reciter blog

Praise be to Allaah.

So long as you did not know that this work is haraam, and you
left this job as soon as you found out that it is haraam, then you do not
have to get rid of this wealth, and there is nothing wrong with you
benefiting from it, because Allaah says, after stating that riba is haraam
(interpretation of the meaning):

“So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and
stops consuming Riba, shall not be punished for the past”

[al-Baqarah 2:275].

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
Among the things that we learn from this verse is that whatever a person
took of riba before learning of the prohibition is permissible for him, on
the condition that he repent and stops (dealing with riba). End quote.

Tafseer Soorat al-Baqarah 2:377

The scholars of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas
said:

With regard to the period during which you worked in the
bank, we hope that Allaah will forgive you for that sin. With regard to the
wealth that you accumulated and received because of working in the bank
during that period, there is no sin on you for that, because you were
unaware of the ruling concerning that.

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz, Shaykh ‘Abd al-Razzaaq
‘Afeefi, Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Ghadyaan, Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Qa’ood.

Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah
(15/46).

They also said:

If the situation is as you describe, and you gave up working
there after being told that it is not permissible to work in a bank, then
there is no sin on you with regard to what you received from the bank in
return for working there for the number of months mentioned, and you do not
have to give it in charity; it is sufficient for you to repent from that,
may Allaah forgive us and you, because Allaah says (interpretation of the
meaning): “Allaah has permitted trading and forbidden Riba. So whosoever
receives an admonition from his Lord and stops consuming Riba, shall not be
punished for the past; his case is for Allaah (to judge)” [al-Baqarah 2:275].
End quote.

Should one return salaams to a parrot

Should one return salaams to a parrot

In my grandfather's house there is a real live parrot, and when I pass by it, it greets me and says ‘al-salaamu ‘alaykum”. In this case do I have to return the greeting of this bird?.

Firstly:

Al-Fayyoomi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

The babgha’ (parrot) is a well-known bird. The word babgha’ may be masculine or feminine, and the plural is Babghawaat.

Al-Misbaah al-Muneer fi Ghareeb al-Sharh al-Kabeer, 1/35

Secondly:

It seems that it is not prescribed to return the greeting of a parrot which has learnt how to say salaams, because saying salaam is an act of worship and a supplication which requires intention on the part of the one who said it, and there is no such intention on the part of this trained creature. So one should not return its greeting. The ruling is the same as that on a tape on which the greeting is recorded and can be heard. It is transmission of sound and does not come under the ruling on greeting when it is broadcast live, in which  case returning the greeting is prescribed and is a communal obligation (fard kifaayah).

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Sometimes the greeting may be recorded and they put it on the tape and run it. If it is recorded then you are not obliged to return the greeting, because this is just transmission of sound.

Liqa’ al-Bab al-Mmaftooh, 28/229

See the rest of the fatwa and details on this issue in the answer to question number 128737.

Based on that, the parrot does not intend to give the greeting of salaam, because it does not possess the power of reason, and when it speaks it is just repeating what it has been taught, without meaning what it says.

Some of the scholars have stated that it is not prescribed to prostrate if one hears a verse from a parrot or from a recorded tape.

One of the conclusions of the book Bahjat al-Asma‘ fi Ahkaam al-Samaa‘ fi’l-Fiqh al-Islami by Prof. ‘Ali ibn Dhariyaan ibn Faaris al-Hasan al-‘Anzi (published by Dar al-Manaar in Kuwait) is:

The listener need not do the prostration of recitation if he hears it from a source that is not human, such as a trained bird like a parrot or hearing it from an echo. End quote.

And Allah knows best.

healing from black magic through quran , read quran online

humbly request all my muslim brothers and sisters not to deny the

existence of magic (sihir , jado), because Allah, the all-knowing, has

himself mentioned in the holy

book of Quran that magic (sihir , jado), are one of his creations. So

there is no room for any doubt. Moreover what are those people trying to

prove by denying the existence of magic (sihir , jado), , that they

know better than Allah or that Allah has lied in the Holy Quran??Allah has clearly mentioned about the magic (sihir , jado), in various places in the Holy Quran

and a separate chapter, i.e Surah taha and surah falaq has been

dedicated to them too. So if a person does not acknowledge their

presence, it means that he is going against the Holy Quran and is doing kufr, in other words. I have made a collection of all the verses related to magic (sihir , jado), and mentioned them here along with their translation and if any person has any doubt about these verses/chapters, then I request them to cross check these verses by the Quran that they have in their home so that they can be reaasured about their accuracy.surah anbiya

Quran And Prophet Hood: Two Foundations Of Islam

Allah (SWT) revealed a miraculous book, Quran, to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.S.) through his angel Gabriel. Muhammad (S.A.W.W.S.) was made Rahma, teacher and Daee (one who invites) for the whole of humankind. He was a Daee as Prophet of Allah and conveyed the Message of Allah to the humankind. He has been primarily acting as Muballigh, who is the person responsible for propagation of the message.

Our beloved Porphet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was Daee as a person as well. He is the perfect man of Allah and he invited the humankind towards Islam through emulating his example. Quran and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), both are the parts of Islamic revolution. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the practical example of what the Quran preaches and teaches.

Many proponents argue that Muhammad's (peace e upon him) life can be divided into two phases. The first phase deals with Muhammad "the messenger of Allah" and the next phase is Muhammad (peace be upon him), a common person. His actions and statements need to be followed, as messengers are followed, but his actions and statements as human beings are not to be followed. Many people disagree to this school of thought.

Other proponents, who oppose this school of thought, argue that Muhammad (peace be upon him) should not be classified into categories such as "Rasul" and "human being", every position being isolated, but he is a Nabi( always since birth). He is Rasul, when he conveys Allah's messages to his follower, according to the guideline descried in Quran. He is still a messenger, in his daily life, since his actions are set examples for the followers.

Allah himself explained in Quran that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the man who was gifted with all abilities to be the messenger of Allah. He was a complete person and messenger to understand the meaning of what was revealed to humankind through him and was the perfect one to become the example in the eyes of Ummah through applying messages contained in verse for establishing a system.

Quran describes Muhammad (peace be upon him) ""Messenger who gave good news as well as warning", as one who "allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad", as "Witness, a Bearer of Glad Tidings, and Warner" and as one who "mightest judge between men, as guided by God." Muhammad is not always addressed as " O Muhammad" or "O Prophet" but at many places in Quran he is addressed as "you / Thou".

The real purpose of Rislatat is to inculcate the "abdiyyat" in the nature of humankind. It makes the humans worthy of salvation. If this is the final stage or the final destination for human kind, there is no second contestant for this level other than the last prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He was the first to accept and to submit what was revealed to him. He is the messenger for all times and for all humankind.

learn Quran is it against Terrorism

learn Quran is it against Terrorism

Islam is the religion, which promotes justice, peace, and freedom. Many critique’s point cite different verses from holy Qur’an that seem to promote violence according to them, but that is not true. This trend has tremendously increased in the past few years especially after the September 11 attacks, which changed the politics of the world.

To eradicate this misconception, you need to go through the Qur’an itself and avoid the culture of Chinese whisper and do not believe until you see and observe it yourself. The anti-Islam agents have been very active in the past decade in popularizing different myths and misconceptions against Islam and Qur’an.

The entire Qur’an is a compiled holy book, which promotes hope, faith, and peace. The devastating message of Qur’an is that peace revolves around strong faith in Allah and justice amongst the humankind. The importance of humankind, no matter what religion he belongs to, is mention in Qur’an 5:32,” if anyone slays a person- unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land -it would be as if he slew all people. And if anyone saves a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all people.”

This is the Qur’an, which signify the importance of single person’s life, so how can it be the cause of violence for terrorism itself, which involves murder of unlimited persons. Allah says in Qur’an that the “Goodness and evil are not equal. Repel evil with what is better. Then that person, with whom there was hatred, may become your intimate friend! And no one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint, none but people of the greatest good fortune. Quran reciter” 41:34-35
