Quran And Prophet Hood: Two Foundations Of Islam

Allah (SWT) revealed a miraculous book, Quran, to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.S.) through his angel Gabriel. Muhammad (S.A.W.W.S.) was made Rahma, teacher and Daee (one who invites) for the whole of humankind. He was a Daee as Prophet of Allah and conveyed the Message of Allah to the humankind. He has been primarily acting as Muballigh, who is the person responsible for propagation of the message.

Our beloved Porphet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was Daee as a person as well. He is the perfect man of Allah and he invited the humankind towards Islam through emulating his example. Quran and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), both are the parts of Islamic revolution. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the practical example of what the Quran preaches and teaches.

Many proponents argue that Muhammad's (peace e upon him) life can be divided into two phases. The first phase deals with Muhammad "the messenger of Allah" and the next phase is Muhammad (peace be upon him), a common person. His actions and statements need to be followed, as messengers are followed, but his actions and statements as human beings are not to be followed. Many people disagree to this school of thought.

Other proponents, who oppose this school of thought, argue that Muhammad (peace be upon him) should not be classified into categories such as "Rasul" and "human being", every position being isolated, but he is a Nabi( always since birth). He is Rasul, when he conveys Allah's messages to his follower, according to the guideline descried in Quran. He is still a messenger, in his daily life, since his actions are set examples for the followers.

Allah himself explained in Quran that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the man who was gifted with all abilities to be the messenger of Allah. He was a complete person and messenger to understand the meaning of what was revealed to humankind through him and was the perfect one to become the example in the eyes of Ummah through applying messages contained in verse for establishing a system.

Quran describes Muhammad (peace be upon him) ""Messenger who gave good news as well as warning", as one who "allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad", as "Witness, a Bearer of Glad Tidings, and Warner" and as one who "mightest judge between men, as guided by God." Muhammad is not always addressed as " O Muhammad" or "O Prophet" but at many places in Quran he is addressed as "you / Thou".

The real purpose of Rislatat is to inculcate the "abdiyyat" in the nature of humankind. It makes the humans worthy of salvation. If this is the final stage or the final destination for human kind, there is no second contestant for this level other than the last prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He was the first to accept and to submit what was revealed to him. He is the messenger for all times and for all humankind.
