There is a famous verse of the Holy Quran: “Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the disbelievers”. People get confused in these kinds of verses and in the absence of Quran tutor they tend to come up with their own meanings.
The big question here related to this verse is that how can a Muslim be a trial for those who disbelieve? The answer is that he can pretty much be a trail for disbelievers if the Kuffars (non Muslims) gain power.
If the kuffars gain power, there is every chance that they will make efforts to misguide Muslims. A Quranic verse beautifully explains the subject matter: “Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance (to Allaah), then they will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire”.
